Vivacity Technologies (www.vvctec.com) is a technology company based out of Kamloops, BC, and we provide digital and security infrastructure to a number of awesome clients across North America. With digital infrastructure, we work a lot with municipalities on projects such as data centre builds and fibre network expansions. With security infrastructure, we offer a Public Key Infrastructure platform which helps secure highly sensitive wireless networks against the ever evolving cyber threats landscape of today. We also occasionally take on IT consulting projects, which allow us to support some really cool clients (like the awesome Big Bear Youth Advocacy Centre) while helping us fund product development!
In addition to the projects above, we’ve recently started branching into the intelligent cities and living labs space. Our goal is to put our technology expertise to work in a way that helps create better and more livable communities for everyone. What we’re looking for We’re looking for someone who has strong back end software development skills to support our product development in the long-term. Due to the nature of our business, the ideal candidate will also be eager to learn about other areas of what we do and support us in achieving our goals. Our skills wish list is as follows:
Eagerness to learn and grow a broad technology skill set;
Understanding of front-end software concepts and frameworks;
Strong ability to design and develop effective back-end services;
Ability to propose and implement software architecture changes;
Knowledge of infrastructure (containers, VMs, hypervisors);
Experience with high-level programming languages such as Java;
Experience with scripting languages such as Python and JavaScript;
Strong communication skills in English, both written and spoken;

Think of programming languages and frameworks as tools, with the ability to identify, learn, and apply the best one for each application.
